Fort Lauderdale Hotels and Accommodation

(Fort Lauderdale, Florida - FL, USA)

A very popular tourist destination famed for its beaches, Fort Lauderdale is the perfect place to enjoy a summer holiday, although due to the great demand for lodging, hotels in this part of Florida are quite pricey. Accommodation in Fort Lauderdale tends to become more expensive as you approach the beachfront and the Port Everglades area. Some beach hotels even choose to solely target the lucrative gay holiday market, rather than families.

One of the highest concentrations of lodging in Fort Lauderdale is to be found within the Mars area, which lies between Vistamar Street (north) and Rio Mar Street (south), and from Highway A1A to the Bayshore Drive. Accommodation in the Mars area includes a balanced mixture of motels and hotels, together with some competitively priced B&Bs overlooking the beach.

Where to Stay

There are also a number of hotels situated conveniently close to Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport (FLL), which is just 3 miles / 5 km to the south. Well-placed airport accommodation includes the nearby Days Inn on the West Oakland Park Boulevard, the Hyatt Place Hotel on South East 10th Avenue, the Ramada Cruise Port on the Marina Mile Road, and also the Red Carpet Inn on the West State Road US-84.

Budget hotels are located on North State Road, the Fort Lauderdale Beach Boulevard and the North Federal Highway. Particularly cheap is the Extended Stay America Cypress Creek on North Andrews Avenue, which ranks as one of the cheapest hotels in the whole of Fort Lauderdale and offers a very reasonable standard of lodging, being conveniently close to the Dailland Park Shopping Center. Also especially good value is the outlying Travelodge on the North Ocean Boulevard, and the Ramada Plaza on the North State Road US-7. For business travelers needing to stay close to the Broward County Convention Center, the Holiday Inn Express on the Southeast 17th Street Causeway is a good bet.

When it comes to mid-range accommodation in Fort Lauderdale, look along the El Mar Drive, the East Sunrise Boulevard and the Seabreeze Boulevard, the latter of which is where you will encounter the Bahia Mar Beach Resort, the Best Western Oceanside Inn and the Courtyard by Marriott. Also located on the Seabreeze Boulevard and a little more upmarket is the Sheraton Fort Lauderdale Beach Hotel, which stands on the beachfront itself and comes with two outdoor swimming pools, live entertainment and a full-service restaurant.

For luxury accommodation in this coastal Floridian city, there are a few hotels that certainly spring to mind. The Hilton Beach Resort on the North Fort Lauderdale Boulevard stands between the Las Olas and Sunrise boulevards, and features private balconies with wonderful panoramas of the Atlantic. Just a short stroll to the south will lead you to the sumptuous and rather pricey five-star Ritz Carlton Resort, which boasts stunning views across both the ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway.
